Episode 41 - Unpacking Phone Calls
While working at your office, have you ever had a fear of picking up the phone and calling a consultant, client, or representative of a company to get more information? In the 21st century, more people are losing touch with the simple act of picking up the telephone and making a cold call to someone that they haven’t met before.
In this episode, Mike and Tim talk about entering the profession as architects and having a fear of calling people that they’ve never met before. However, as they continued to grow at their architecture firms, they quickly adjusted to making phone calls and learned the importance and benefits of being able to pick up the phone and have conversations related to their projects.
As designers, it’s important to be able to clearly communicate issues and resolutions with our team. Although emails and messages are an important tool for keeping track of some of our responses and project related information, calling and video conferencing others is often the most efficient way of quickly working through a design problem.
