Episode 49 – Unpacking Year One

UD - Episode 49 - Unpacking Year One.jpg

After a year of starting the Unpacking Design podcast, Mike and Tim take a second to reflect on what they’ve learned through this experience and where they see the podcast going in 2019. They share some of their favorite episodes of the podcast and discuss the reasons why.

For the upcoming year, Tim wants to focus on more episodes like episode 22 “Unpacking Pay Gaps” and related topics that others are always thinking about, but hesitant to discuss at large. Mike wants to continue experimenting with episodes where either of them rant about a specific topic. The first episode that they experimented with ranting is episode 19 “Depiction in the Media” where they discussed how designers are typically portrayed in popular media.

Both Mike and Tim want to continue their design life episodes where they share the creative projects that they’re personally working on. They’ll continue sharing the upsides and downsides of their pursuits in hopes that it’ll help other designers relate to the struggles that we encounter. They also want to continue sharing tools and advice to help designers continue building their careers.
